FOCUS gives SaaS spending the same consistent, vendor-neutral schema already used for cloud costs. FinOps Practitioners can analyze software, cloud, and PaaS spend side-by-side instead of reconciling fragmented vendor exports. For SaaS specifically, this means cleaner ingestion, reliable cost allocation, and the ability to compare vendors on common terms.
FOCUS handles virtual currencies, the provider-defined units (credits, tokens, DBUs) that many SaaS and PaaS platforms use to meter consumption. A workload consumes these units as it runs, and the provider converts them to a cash amount on your invoice. FOCUS captures both the units and the money, so you can see what was consumed and what it cost.
Here’s how 25 Snowflake credits appear in the key FOCUS 1.2 columns, with pricing in USD and billing in EUR (at 1 USD = 1.008 EUR):
| Column | Value | What it tells you |
|---|---|---|
| ConsumedQuantity | 25 | Credits consumed |
| ConsumedUnit | Credit | The virtual currency unit |
| PricingCurrency | USD | Currency Snowflake prices in |
| PricingCurrencyContractedUnitPrice | 2.70 | Your negotiated price per credit |
| PricingCurrencyEffectiveCost | 67.50 | 25 credits × 2.70 USD |
| BillingCurrency | EUR | Currency on the invoice |
| EffectiveCost | 68.04 | Your cost, converted to EUR |
