    Data Model

    Overview

The Data Model is a spreadsheet reference for the full FOCUS schema. It lays out every dataset, column, and relationship defined in the specification in one browsable file, so FinOps Practitioners and implementers can see the whole schema at a glance instead of paging through the specification document.

    What’s in It

    The sheet covers:

    • Datasets: Billing Period, Contract Commitment, Cost and Usage, and Invoice Detail, with their type (Transaction or Reference) and feature level.
    • Columns: all 100+ FOCUS columns, each with its category, column type (Dimension or Metric), feature level (Mandatory, Conditional, Recommended, or Optional), data type, and allowed values.
    • Attributes: version history and applicability criteria showing when a column was introduced, deprecated, or removed.

    Why Use It

Reading the full specification to answer a schema question takes time. The Data Model gives the same information in a flat, filterable, sortable format, useful for scoping a data pipeline, checking which columns a billing data generator must supply, or onboarding a new team member to FOCUS without walking them through the entire spec.
